Poem: Candyfloss Love

The lights brighten my eyes

The clatter of balls hitting the bowls

To get a fish

To be named

And taken in as family

Racing for ice cream

Bustling through the children

Despite feeling like a child myself

Unable to help my creeping smile

Etch onto my face

As I feel tickled with the floss

Currently pink all over my lips

The butterflies

Spilling out of my stomach

As I stare into his eyes

As he watches me

As I tuck the strand of hair

That so desperately wants to leave me

To join him

He has taken me in

But he does not yet know

That I was always

And forever
